i do not mean to crosspost .. and I am actually not as the above rule states to not post in several forums ... I am staying in the same forum .. even the same thread

but this thing is bugging the heck out of me ... and i know it has to work somehow ...

i'd be particulary interested inin a guide for DivX -> whatever (VCD / DVD) as i have trouble hooking up my TiBook to the TV

a first test in 0.0.6 created something good looking but audio totally out of sync ...

in 0.0.7 i run into a nice error message: after a nice .mp2 file is created (now i can listen to the whole movie .. alas not on the iPod)

**ERROR: [mplex] Unable to open file /Users/meman/Desktop/tv showsXViD-DVL/pb.m2v for reading.

as it has not created a m2v file .. but an mp2
i even tried renaming the mp2 into m2v and ran the encode again .. did not work either ..

    any ideas?? thanks

(ok .. a bit more detail as to what I am doing: running 10.2.6 on a g4 1 GB tibook .. i load the avi into ffm and then just select the quick presets .. i tried that for VCD, SVCD and DVD .. and nothing worked out so far .. i must be doing something really wrong .. yes .. i used the installer and have the 3 components loaded ..

    Thansk in advance !!!

Erase the space between "tv" and "shows".

But why (in 0.0.6 at least.. didn't tested in 0.0.7 yet) is the audio like 2 seconds slower than the video? And how can this be corrected?

  5. Audio sync problems can appear in various situations with NTSC material. Each case can be handled in a specific way, and there is not a simple answer. Eg.: if you encode anything to mpeg-2, usually choosing the correct framerate and "Use quicktime to decode" will fix.

  6. As a related point what kind of problems are you having hooking your Titanium to the TV?

I assume that the 1Ghz still have S-Video out?

With the later version of OS X and Powerbooks they are very picky about hooking up to external things. And it's usually the opposite of what Apple recommends or recommended.

I find that if you hook up monitors "hot" (laptop screen open, power on) it usually works better. Hooking up while asleep or powered off sometimes causes problems.

first of all ... MAJOR is the man !!! yeas !!!

worked exactly as he said .. needed to change the folder name so that there is no blank in it .. .and checked that the source file had 25 fps (PAL) .. so i made A PAL VCD this time ... not NTSC as i tried before .. gladly my stand alone player and TV can handle all that ..

as to my TV hookup problem ... i figure it may be related to the fact that I try to route that (as all my AV equipment) through my sony 940 DB amp ... i have only given it a quick try ... want to see what happens when I hook it to the TV directly ...

thanks to both of you !

I keep getting the same error...

**ERROR: [mplex] Unable to open file /Volumes/Footy/todd/footy.m1v for reading.

It never makes a .m1v file! I was getting the error before but took out all the spaces and numbers and I'm still getting the error. Any ideas?

If you're talking about subtitles coming in two files (one .idx and one .sub) you can display them by selecting the .idx file in the Load sub.. field, then open the video in the Open.. field and click "Play" button (this button is located to the right of the Open.. field).

If there is no .m1v file then this error is quite normal, however you should understand why it don't created any .m1v file (usually by looking what was written earlier in the output)

Umm.. I don't really speak terminal, I'm trying to learn. So looking at the output really doesn't tell me much. I have no idea why its not making a .mv1 file... I'm trying to convert divx to vcd using the preset vcd option. The only thing I was changing was the resolution. I didn't want 720x480 I had it at 700x303(dont ask I just wanted it that size) could this have something to do with it? Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

  13. Post the terminal output here and I'll try to understand what's happening.
