  1. @Galacta, that still doesn't answer my question...I really could care less why it is in this forum...I just thought it would get more responses in the media forum. If the original author of this thread is a MAC user, you wouldn't know it by their original post.

They were specifying different types of media being used with a

"Toshiba SD-R5002 (1x-2x DVD Burn)" NOT AN APPLE..and not the apple "LADD" referenced with this drive : HL-DT-ST GCA-4020B burner

Also, Roxio's Toast Titanium is a Windows proggy as well....so I think with all of this..the post would of been better off in the "media" forum with an "APPLE" touch..so to speak. But I didn't intend on hurting anyones feelings by saying that...I was just trying to be helpful.

Oops, i guess the fact that my comptuer profile says OSX 10.2 and that my homepage is Macvideo.htm sort of gave it away.

Ill post it in the media forum and see what sort of respose it gets there also. I appreciate your efforts in suggesting where I can get moreinformation to make my media list more compelte.

    I just posted here because:
    1. I am a mac user
    2. I find you get better response (more that is) in the mac forum when you have anything mac related in a post thats not in a mac forum
    3. 99.9% of my posts are in the mac forum, and a lot of the mac forum readers know who I am.

Thanks for your suggestion, its in the media forum now as we speak.

  3. @Galacta....cool....as I was saying..I just thought you'd get better responses from the media forum on this topic..as for your profile....most people don't bother to check the profiles..and the ones that do...are usually the more "seasoned" posters..and that's just to try and address a problem someone is having. Just by reading the post and seeing the media info as well as burner you were using....it would definitely appear as though you were just another Windows user seeking info on Media.

At any rate, I hope all the Mac users are able to find preferred inexpensive media which works just as great for you as the preferred media for Windows users.

    Good luck

Aren't you just re-inventing the wheel by opening up your tests to the general population?

There's already an entire forum dedicated to DVD Media compatibility (https://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia), which because of sheer percentages is dominated by PC users. There are probably a few Mac postings there but as one would expect, they're buried pretty deep.

It's been my experience that it is a lot easier to find Mac information in the Mac forum. But hopefully you'll have better luck!

    Hey!

Just postin' to tell you guys...I'm buying 2x TDK DVD-Rs at costco for $3 CAN with case. Very good deal...and these puppies play better than originals on my Kenwood DVD Player..which is a picky player. They also work like a charm in my modded PS2.

    I'm using a Lacie d2 DVD-R/RW with Firewire.

    Good stuff.
Also, Verbatim 4x DVD-Rs are just as solid. Although you can't get them as cheap. Verbatim is the KING of recordable media. Point made.

Hello! I just wanted to introduce myself as another hapless owner of an iMac with an HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GCA-4020B D02D "super" drive. As I mentioned to Ladd in another thread, I have been using the disgustingly overpriced Apple 2x DVD-Rs out of fear that random bulk DVD-Rs wouldn't work. I've been burned (pun intended) with different CD-R burners and bulk media, and given the greater density of DVD-Rs I figured the problem would be even worse in DVD-R land.

I've ordered a big spindle of the Accu media from Meritline and will let you know how well they work, especially if they give me problems.
