    Hello,

I've looked and searched for info on DVD2MPEG but I.m not finding any software that will actualy create a MPEG file from a VOB file....

I don't want to re-encode into VCD or DivX or anything.

Here's what I'm trying to do.

I created DVDs from last years vacation footage.

Now I want to do some nicer menus and better editing of the footage.

I don't have the AVIs and the tapes are over-written.

I want to pull the MPEGs (with MPEG audio) out of the VOBs and use Womble to cut and splice the MPEG from there....

can you point me in the right direction?

Vob's are mpg2 files. I have used TMPEG's MpegTools to convert vob files into mpg files. It will preserve their original video and audio quality. What kind of audio is on your vob's?

  3. wulf is right, use Tmpgenc's mpeg-tools, simple demultiplex to get seperate mpeg-2 video and audio streams. You can then use the simple multiplex to put them back together into a simple mpeg program stream if you wish. A VOB is essentially an mpeg-2 program stream with extra info added.

  4. Or VOBRator. Or VOBEdit.

Essentially, any program that can demux your VOBs into their component parts. VOBRator seems the easiest of all of these to me, but they all work.
