I used Smart Ripper to rip the files, then used DVDShrink to author the files into Ifo and VOB files..then tried to burn the Video_TS.IFO file; with Record Now Max..

When I put the Video_TS.IFO file in Record Now Max, it indicated that there was NOTHING in this Video_TS.IFO file.

But all of the VOB and other files are there in the same output destination folder.

So, can anyone tell me what I can do to correct this problem ? Is there a way that I can move the VOB files INTO the Video_TS.IFO file ?

(I've tried simply dragging the VOB files into the Video_TS.IFO, but this really doesn't work.)

Why did DVDShrink leave an empty Video_TS.IFO folder ? (actually; this isn't even a folder; it's really another file, which appears to be only 6 Kb.)

What if I simply drag ALL of the files from the destination folder to be burned onto the DVD with Record Now Max.. would THIS work ?

Thanks for helping out a newbie

  2. You put all the files into a VIDEO_TS folder which you create then burn that folder as a data file with RecordNow.

Yes.. I suspect this is the answer; however HOW do you drag the individual files to this folder; when an error message occurs, indicating that "A SHARING violation has occured". then will not allow you to drag these files into this folder ?

  4. I don't have a clue why you get a sharing violation error. What I do is first before I run DVDshrink I will create a Folder for the movie I'm going to be backing up then in that folder I create the VIDEO_TS folder then when I run DVDshrink I just direct it to put all the files in the already created VIDEO_TS folder.

Ok. you're RIGHT~ My bad..(I didn't realise that I was trying to view the VOB files in my Win DVD Player a few minutes before I tried to burn the files. Once I closed the DVD player.. I was able to drag every file into the new folder.)

Everything is correct now... I DID put all of the files into a Video_TS folder, then dragged this folder into Record Now Max... everything appeared to go well.. for a few seconds.. until I got an error message that stated that there was a bad sector... then, would NOT allow the burn to proceed.

Now, I'm scratching my head..I just opened the shrink wrap on this brand new DVD Re-writable blank disc... could it be possible that I have a new blank disc that has bad sectors on it ?

I don't have another disk to try at the moment.. sheesh ~ Oh Well.. I'll try again in the morning. Guess I might as well go to bed.. LOL~!

  6. If it's a "RW" disc then before you burn have RecordNow erase the disc then do the burn. It's a really good idea to use a re-writable disc until you feel whatever system your using to do backups works well. I know because I went through about twenty DVD-R discs before I went out and found a store that had some DVD-RW disc for sale. Now I have it down pretty good and only use a RW disc when I actually author a disc.

Yeah.. well.. I did the FULL erase on this Verbatim DVD-ReWriteable disc, then tried it again.. Nada..nope..won't work..still indicates that there's a "bad sector" in there somewhere..good grief.. I may have to just buy another blank disc..try a different new disc tomorrow ~ Thanks ~ !

  8. I had a pack of 15 Verbatim 4x DVD+R that were all bad the last 400 or 500 MB of the disc. I could actually see the problem on the outer edge of the disc where they all had a change in the color of the media and tiny voids in the dye. The only RW media I have used is the Phillips 2.4x DVD+RW, and one TDK DVD-RW disc and both have worked well with about 50 burns so far.
