  1. I've burnt coasters it seems. I have followed both guides to burning an SVCD located with Nero and VCDEasy.

This is what happens when I pop each of the CDs in.
    1) Pop CD in
    2) Autorun CD thingy asks me what I want to do, so I pick 'Play' and it opens up WMP9.
    3) Then the CD spins up and nothing happens for awhile until an error box, saying Windows Media Player encountered a problem.

    My drives are:
    Lite-On LTR-40125S
    Lite-On DVD-Rom LTD166S

I don't have a DVD player that can play SVCDs so I can't test to see if it's just my computer that won't play it, or I just did something wrong when burning both discs. I followed the directions on the guides so I was just wondering if anyone else had problems like this.

From what I understand, Media Player won't play Mpeg2's which is an SVCD. So, you need another software player like PowerDVD or the like which will install the necessary mpeg2 codec and play the disk.

  3. Yea, I solved the problem. I always had PowerDVD installed but never used it as a media player. It plays the burnt SVCD fine.

    Thanks.
