Okay, I thought the title would snag all you Mintek die-hards out there..!
I have a bunch of mp3's burned onto a DVD-R. They're very structured, with folders, etc.
However, after it's played one folder the machine quits (does not move on to the next folder) and eventually goes into sleep mode, etc. How can I enable it to move onto the next friggin folder?? ;)
Also, I've been having problems playing DVD's burned with DVD X Copy (even with the trick of repeatedly hitting 'Title' as folks on here suggest doing). I've heard that this player can be picky about discs not written with the most strict naming standards (no Joliet, etc.).
So what's the deal?? Any suggestions?

I have a Mintek 2110(same hardware as 1600)and what I do to make a DVD-mp3 disk play non-stop is NOT put the files in a folder and I alphabetize the songs(ie "BE_Let it Be.mp3" = Beatles-Let it Be).That way songs from one band are grouped together on the disk and still be able to read most of the song title on my TV.
I don't use DVDXCOPY so I can't comment on your other problem. -
I also own one of the 2110 and it is great, never any problems playing MP3's or anything else for that matter. Everyone should have one.

But basically the Cyberhome CH-DVD 300, $48 at Radioshack, is progressive scan.. played all my DVD-R, CD-R, and VCD's flawlessly. Also plays MP3-DVD's, ** WITH long filename support... AND there's no problems with clicks or chirps like there were with the Mintek 1600. AND it plays my DVD's copied with DVD X Copy that Mintek would not.
For my needs, this is the player to get. Best picture from all the DVD players I've tried yet (Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic, Mintek, Phillips). -

Next time you post, how about trying "help - my Mintek won't play MP3s" instead of bashing a product that functions just fine. The problem was on your end.I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored. -
Hahahahaha,
Easy there, Tex! If you took a minute to read my original post, I used that topic heading just to grab folks' attention.
And you said I 'didn't set up my discs properly'???? Hahahahaha! Have you heard of ORGANIZATION -- oh wait, better yet.. it would be so brilliant to put 1000+ (YEAH, READ -- A THOUSAND) songs into ONE ROOT FOLDER??? Yeah, that would be setting up a disc properly. Easy there, Tex, contrary to what you said *MANY* if not *MOST* DVD players *WILL* play mp3's from folders.
Further, I didn't criticize the player ONLY because of a problem with folders. There were other inadequacies, in my opinion. The player would not play some of my DVD-R's (whereas EVERY OTHER SINGLE player i'd tried them in DID).. it would play certain mp3's with clicks and chirps (very subtle, yet still anoying).. it did not have long filename support, etc.
... Anyway, my point wasn't to bash on some stupid dvd player. Sheesh, Tex-baby, someone would think you helped design or owned stock in Mintek!!! Why would I care what kind of DVD player other people have? For all I care folks can use a record player to play DVD's! ;)
... hahahhaa.. the day that I become so worked up about a friggin' DVD player.. someone please shoot me! ;) -
Ordered one of these 39.99 marvels last week, hasn't arrived yet.
Currently run an apex 1500 which is hacked for the macrovision and region one. Also got this one on sale at walmart about a year ago for $40.
Just hope the mintek is as good as the apex.
But what has really gotten my attention these past few days is the sub 149.00 "divx" or mpeg 4 players which are suppose to be hitting the market by year end.
I've burned a couple of divx with dr. divx and I think they look pretty darn good. Can't beleive you can get a whole movie on one disk, and it looks good, much better than vcd.

jim,
yeah -- when DVD players support divx that will be great. plus, if they supported divx on DVD-R you could fit tons of movies on one disc.. or like an entire television series on one disc!
if you guys are interested, click on the following link to see screenshots taken from the Cyberhome 300 (progressive scan, plays MP3-DVD's, long filename support, etc.):

Bob,
A very popular site for all sorts of divx stuff (has been around much longer than divx.com, and is totally free) is:

I have a Mintek 1600 for $40.
It plays great, plays vcd, SVCD, MPG files, MP3 and audio music. It plays everything for a incredibly low price.
I think it is great. -
Mintek 1600 is GREAT BUT ..... I mean for $40.00
It plays MP3s great, even plays raw MPG videos. One of the first, especially at the price to play VCD AND SVCD with no problems.
I like how it organizes the windows like menu for files.
Where I know have problems since I have a DVD burner is having it play ing the DVDs that I burn. These DVDs play great on my Cuberhom CH-500 and Cyberhome 402S, but do not get recognized on my Mintek.
The weidt thing is that it always plays on my DVD+RW, but put the same thing on a DVD+R or a DVD -R, it might or might not play. Usually I get a message that nothing is loaded.
It also plays standard commercials DVDs with no problem .
Anyone have a patch or a solution for this with the 1600.
I called Mintek and their official word is that the 1600 DOES NOT support home blank DVDs, -R, -RW, +R and +RW, so they were no help.

I was looking for something to play MP3s
The MP3 players were expensive as hell.
I bought the Mintek just to play MP3s for $45
dirt cheap.
...it also plays everything i feed it , including the tops from coffee cans
and old tortillas.

I think he had a fit and had to be institutionalized. :P -
You know what Village Man, in most cases you are correct, in stand alone DVDs it is the opposite.
The players like Cyberhome, Mintek and other inexexpensive DVD players are the ones that have flexibility, features, open type of technology, firmware upgrades, can be region free, play MPG files, SVCD, etc, etc.
The expensive big name ones usually have the worst flexibility and the least features. But they usually look cooler. The money is put into the marketing of the unit and you pay for it
When I walked out of Best Buy with my $50 Cyberhome, that thing had more features than the ones triple in price. -
Forty godang dollars ! thats way too expensive. I'm hoping to get a DVD player for £10 quid thats ..hmmm... about ...hmm .. thinks.. that about four packs of donuts. I agree with jolo it does seem that the noname players have more features and better flexibility than the name brands eg tosh, sony
my player (hopefully) will be a Bush xxxx?
What next ? buy a tv box set and get a dvd player free!
Divx players are out look for both kiss liteon and yamada(?)Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
