I've noticed an annoying problem with Ulead Movie Factory 2 I just can't seem to get around.
If I have one clip I want to create multiple chapters with, I seem to be getting two menu screens.
What I mean is I get one with the name of the clip and then a second with all the chapter points.
I can see the benefit of this - if I upload say four clips and want multiple chapter points from each then it would be a wonderful facility, but I only want one menu showing the chapter points I've created.
I appreciate if I split the initial clip into multiple files and upload those I don't need to create chapters and therefore but not checking the chapters box I only get one menu screen, but on the clip I have I dont want to split it, theres too many chapters.
Is there a way to upload one clip, create multiple chapter points and only be presented with one menu screen?
    Thanks,
    Will

  2. I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds this annoying. I have MovieFactory and VideoStudio and both can't seem to create just the chapter menu without the main menu. I wonder if Ulead's other authoring app, DVD Workshop, can do the job? Hmm...

I'll have to email Ulead's Tech Support and see if I can find out if this is possible with any of the mentioned apps.

DVD Workshop definitely can do it. It has a much greater range of customization. MF2 is your basic "Click 'n Burn"

Yup, and the main reason I bought it (although I don't use it for burning).
I wanted something simple and Ulead MF, prior to this little distraction, was ideal.

Hey Gil, the annoying thing is Movie Factory v1 never did this.
It's fine they've added it because as I mentioned it has it's uses but a damn annoyance you don't have the option to remove it.

  5. Silky31,

You're right. MF does not create main menu + chapter menu if you only have one video. I didn't realize that before, thanks for the pointer. It's actually VideoStudio7 that did that. But now I can just import all of my 1-video projects (created in VS7) to MF if I want to avoid this annoyance.

    Thanks again!

I wonder if I save a project in MF2 I can open it in MF1.
The strange thing is I imported the same clip into MF1 last night and each time I tried to create chapter points it froze.
    Did it three times.

Would you say Workshop is much more difficult to understand than MF?
    I've heard it's a little complex.
I don't want to rush and buy it if I'm going to struggle with it.

  8. Damn! I just found out I can't import VS7 projects into MF and MF doesn't have an Auto Add Chapter option (for those times when I'm feeling lazy and would rather have the software pick the chapter marks for me). Does MF2 have this option?

  9. yes, it has autochaptering, you st it by time duration, eg 3mins/ 15mins etc etc
The only difference between right and wrong is gender........
