  1. Hi
Tried to setup my capture card (gainward geforce 4 4600) after a clean install of windows xp, lastest detnator drives and wdm 1.08 drivers. In virtualdub I can see my video signal and hear the audio. Everything looks and works fine, unitl I go to capture.

When I try to caputer in virtualdub i get this error message:
"Warning: No frames captured. Make sure your capture card is functioning correclty and that a valid video source is connected. You might also try turning off overlay, reducing the image size, or reducing the image depth to 24 or 16-bit."

If I launch the caputer app in Vegas4 I get this message:
"Warning: An error occured during the current operation. The application does not support this file type."

If I click ok to that message I get this one:
"The device 'nVidia WDM Video Capture (univeral)' could not be opened. Please make sure that it is turned on and is not being used by another application or user."

I know this combination of applications and hardware work, because I captured a couple of months ago with it. (When I first got the GF4). I thought there might had been a problem with my windows config, so I reinstall XP thinking that was the problem. After a clean XP install, I installed all my drivers, no apps, then installed virtualdub. (when that failed vegas4). I got the same exact error messages. I tried at that point changing versions of the detnator drivers and wdm drivers and every set failed.

    Anybody have any ideas?

(ohh...forgot one thing. I am using the twinview function with two lcd panels and nview enabled (altough tried disabled with no luck) thought I should add this, as I am unsure this will effect the problem any.)

I couldn't get my GeoForce card to work with the latest version of the Detonator drivers. Version 41.09 of the drivers works for me. After I upgraded to the latest drivers I could never get the capture devices to load properly... similar problems to those you encountered. Try the 41.09 drivers and see if that helps. They can be downloaded from the archive section the the NVidia web site. Good luck..

  3. Hi,
Thanks for the reply...I started reading your post and thought, wow! that's exactly what i did, lol...
Tried various versions of the detnator drivers, but the first ones I put on was the latest then tried to go back. I figured that the newest version was leaving some sort of signature behind. I have all the detnator drivers archive on my hard drive. So Ill try another clean install and from the go install the 41.09 detnators with the wdm 1.08...

My card came with the 1.22 wdm, have you tried this version?

    Thanks for the help
