  1. OK. sorry if this an old one, but I really have searched the forums for the answer.
I've been making VCD's for over a year ( using the guides on here ) without any problem. I use TMPGEnc to encode but since buying a new PC and swithching to XP Home Edition I carn't do a damn thing . Every film crashes whilst encoding... I have everything set as before but can not get a film to finish encoding.
Any suggestions would be welcome as I'm now desperate.
    Thanks

  2. XP doesn't come with the proper ASPI drivers.
Try searching for ForceASPI and install that.
    That should correct your problem

  4. Thanks guys, I'll see if that works. I must have encoded over 200 movies on my last PC but now all I get is error after error. If anybody else has any suggestions please let me know as desperation is setting in.
As for the exact error .... well ??? Tmpgenc just stops encoding after a few minutes, I get no error message just the XP one saying the Program has stopped responding.

  6. I had the same problem when I first started and it was the am drivers. Bash them in and you will be sorted.

  8. When you open VCDEasy , on the right does it give you a menu of ASPI (ie:I have Nero and Adaptec)?

Thanks to all those who have helped me, and please keep the suggestions comming in.... as it could all fail once again.

    With thanks

  12. I've had the same crashing problem with tmpeg but it was the software problem, not XP. The newest version crashed each and every time. And I thought that something was wrong with my computer. But I later found out that my previous version worked perfectly without any problem. So I reinstalled the previous version and works fine.

There is a newer version than the constant crashing 2.511. 2.512 just came out and is pretty stable. Either reinstall 2.510 or upgrade to 2.512, discard any versions of 2.511 as that will kill you every time.
