DVD player that plays divx later this year!

If this really happens, no more avi to mpeg conversion. Simply burn an avi file to a cd, and pop it into the dvd player. Kind of exciting really!
And for less than $150!

Yeah I suppose , but trust me I'm excited as you are since I have a bunch of divx files I couldn't be bothered to convert to mpeg2! Although my ps2 already plays divx, it has some parameters that have to be adhered to, so i sometimes have to convert anyway. I am looking for a divx player with more processing power.

3 ingredients...

1. XBox
2. Modchip
3. XBox Media Player (www.xboxmediaplayer.de)

Not only plays divx (I store like 6 or 7 movies on a single dvd in divx or xvid format), but mp3's etc...

True, only that an xbox with a modchip will run you at least twice as much as a sub $150 system (assuming you pay to have the soldering done, since lets face it, it isn't childs play). Great option for gamers though.

True, only that an xbox with a modchip will run you at least twice as much as a sub $150 system (assuming you pay to have the soldering done, since lets face it, it isn't childs play). Great option for gamers though.

actually, if you go with the matrix, or the new lite2, you can bypass soldering...This will still only run you approx. 200.

Xbox also can be used as a progressive dvd player...I think this is the best value all around, forget just for gamers...I hardly get a chance to play games now that I have XBMP going...
