  1. mY burner used to work fine but now it fails on me every time around 70-90% of the completion of the disk. I reinstalled win xp and it still didnt work. So i installed win 2k pro and it still does not work. I updated my motherboard drivers already but it is still not working. Could it have something to do with what IDE it is pluged into cause i might have changed that i cant remember. Any help would be very appreciated.

  2. have you installed any of the new firmware? i just did mine as written down elsewhere on the forums and it has really opened mine up. Faster ripping, region free (with dvd region killer installed). I also enabled sync data transfer and DMA which allowed me to burn my discs at 4x. I am using Princo white tops and before i enabled those 2 things it was writing at 4x although it took as long as a if i was writing at 2x. I haven't made a coaster yet.....touch wood!

Take a look in your device manager under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, you will know where to look if you know what you're doing

There's also some usefull info in this thread :

Something that is recommended: make certain that you have the DVD burner set as the master on the IDE channel that you have it on. I have noticed in the past that this makes a difference.
