Now was that standard with your build, or extra?

  2. 1394b has already been out for the pc. This is already old news. For the user who wanted to know where to find 1394b products, this store specializes with these devices and others.

Just check out the cool drive enclosure and 1394b pci card. You can hook up 3 or 4 of these drives in raid mode, and then your smokin, as others have already done.

  3. I have a Question for you people.
I have the Asus A7V333 motherboard. The manual says there is a 1394 header on it. Does this mean the board has fire wire on board and all I need is a connecter cable to connect my camera into to transfer video?

  5. Ok, thanks. I'll have to find out where to get the cable and see if it's only a few bucks and try it first.
Otherwise I guess for 40 or 50 bucks I'd be better off with the pci card then. Are the cables that go from the camera to the fire wire port all the same ? Or does each camera manufacturer have a different end to go into there product?

most are all the same (afaik) -- there is usually either a small firewire connector or a large type (known as 4 or 6 pin) - most camera's are small type which always goes to a large type on the card .

    large - large
    small - large

are the two main cable types ..

maybe some equipment has its own non standard connector -- i am not sure .

  7. OK,
Is there a difference between a $5 cable and a $30 cable? Except the price? If there is, how noticable would it be?

  8. I would think the price difference is in the material and the quality. Some of the cheaper cables aren't as heavily shielded and the connectors aren't as tight. The longer the cable, the more shielding you would want. All in all, if the cable works, use it.

  9. Ok, thanks.
I'll try the less expensive, because I don't want to alot when I'm trying something out.
