  1. Hi,

I want to store some of my old private videos from S-VHS on DVD.
Therefore I captured the material with my "FAST AV Master" cature card which saves the files in M-JPEG codec. Unfortunetly the maximum filesize of one avi is 2 GB. So the quite good capture software records many avis of 1 oer 2 GB size.
Now the first problem: I am not able to join these avis to one big on my NTFS system with VirtualDub. After trying to "append avi" from files menu it says the files would have different codecs. In fact they are all the same M-Jpeg codec. Anyhow.
So I tried to convert all avis to mpeg2 with TMPGEnc. It saves one .m2v and one .wav for each avi. So it is difficult for me to join these mpeg files to one big to import it in my authoring software. I could join the m2v's with TMPGEnc but what happens to the wavs?

Can someone tell me a way how to deal with this problem?

    Thanks
    Jan

convert the wavs to mp2 or mp3 at 48000 with any music program(goldwave, etc. )then simple multiplex with tmpgenc. after that merge then two new mpg2 together in tmpgenc

  3. TMPGEnc will output mpeg2 files, although there is a check box which allows you to output the video and audio streams seperately, I would assume that you have this checked.

I would first join the audio in Gold Wave. There has reports of a loud screech where the audio is joined with normal encoders. Then while joining the video files, toss in the newly joined audio files.

if no other suggestions work, try this...

reencode your individual avi files to mpeg-2 with TMPGenc. Make sure you uncheck the box so you don't get individual streams.

once you have converted the files to mpeg, use the Mpeg Tools in TMPGenc to join the two files into one.

should be well under the 4Gb limit.
