I am considering purchasing a new Panasonic E30 this weekend, but I would like to know how finnicky it is towards media brand names. Is this a problem with this machine? I'd like to be able to get inexpensive disks, instead of always using Panasonic brand. THanks.

Also, forgot to ask, can I burn Video CD's with this? Are there any DVD Recorders that will allow Video CD's? I have TONS of blank CD's and would like a way to use them up.

Burn a brand of disc that you trust for longevity - I have an E 20 and have only had a couple of bad DVDRs in hundreds. No on the VCD question - the E20 - E50s aren't CD-R/RW burners.
