I tried to do this unsuccessfully. I know my friend's computer can just hit the Print Screen button during the MPEG and just paste it into Microsoft Paint and everything is fine, but mine is a black screen when I do that. Can anyone recommend to me the best way to capture a screenshot of an MPG video? Thanks!!

If you are using Windows Media Player, first pause the movie, then task switch to another program that covers the player window then task switch back to Media Player, after doing that you can use Print Screen.
Instead of task switching, you can also click on the title bar and drag the window down until part of it is off screen then drag it back on screen before hitting Print Screen.
Works with Media Player v6. -
In windows media player go to options, then turn HARDWARE ACCELERATION off (move the slider down to the bottom, left), then you can take screenshots of any video. Also HyperSnap DX is a good program to take screenshots. its available here

If you open it in virtial dub you can use their control+1 option to copy frames to the clipboard.

Switching windows back and forth allowed my print screen to work, thanks! I'll check out VirtualDub later when I have more time though, thanks for all the help!

The print screen button should work ! Are you clicking the right (RIGHT} mouse button to paste the image in something like paintshop pro or photoshop ?
