  1. Trying not to 'hijack a topic' I offer this post:

I tried to convert an avi to mpg2, using TMPenc, splitting the audio and video, then inputting it into Ulead Movie Factory. UMF even showed that it was multiplexing the two streams....I got a nice CD that I could use on mystand alone player but the audio was out of sync with the video, which in effect negated what I had done. Luckily I used an RW so I lost nothing but time.

NB: There is a patch for Movie Factory that speeds up the conversion time considerably.

I also tried to let Movie Factory do the conversion from avi to mpg2 for me, this also resulted in audio that didn't match the video.

I am entirely new to all this so go easy on me, I can't for the life of me understand why the audio/video desync is such a problem, especially since it was fine to begin with! I have many avi's or Divx's that I'd like to make into DVD's but it doesn't appear to me that its' an 'easy' prospect.

    Thanks to all who reply

PS: Yes I do read the FAQ's and continue to do so!

    J Tinsby,

What kind of MPEG2 stream are you trying to create? (DVD, SVCD, CVD, and etc.) What settings are you using for multiplexing. What codec is the AVI file using? (DivX, XviD, Huffy, and etc.)

P.S. Didn't mean to answer your question with more questions, but these things are important.

I wanted to make a DVD to play on my stand alone player.

I chose the default ones in TMPGenc for NTSC

When I right click on the file it shows it uses the DivX codec.
