I have an IOMagic capture card in my PC that allows me to capture video that will play back fine on my computer, but I continue to have difficulties translating that into a usable VCD -- out of sync audio/video, dropped framed, coasters, etc. I have been trying to master it for several months without success. So I have two questions that I hope someone can help me solve:
1. Is it most likely that the problem lies in my capture card, the software I am using to capture or burn (PowerVCR and VCDEasy), or the horsepower of my compter (1.7GHZ P4)? WOuld the same problems exist if I bought a DVD burner?
2. I am also considering a standalone DVD recorder for my home entertainment system ... are you guys getting results as good or better than that with your computer drives? Of course, the computer drive would be more versatile, but if I can't make usable DVD's with it, then I am wasting my time and should just get the standalone unit. The price is about the same.
