  1. What size do I need to capture for best results for making DVDS of home movies?720*480, or 352*480

    this is dependant on a few things.
    if your final file is going to be 720X480, then you should cap in that resolution. if it's going to be 352X480, then cap in that. but which resolution is best to use in the end? well a lot of poeple will tell you to use 352X480, as your source will be low quality anyway. i say, capture the same clip in both resolutions, and make up your own mind. the advantage of using 352X480 is that you can fit about 2.5 hours of acceptable quality video on one disc, wheras 720X480 is more like 90 minutes, but again, try for yourself and see which result you prefer.

    there are several DVD compliant resolutions. you can look at the What Is? section over there <----------------------

    they are
    352X240, 352X480, 704X480, 720X480. those are the NTSC ones, the PAL ones are 352X288, 352X576, 704X576 and 720X576.
