  1. Intervideo has a trial of there new software...

    http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/Product_Profile.jsp?p=InterVideoDVDCopy

InterVideo DVD Copy lets you do all this and more, thanks to Intervideo's cutting-edge features:
True Quality 1:1 Copies of your DVDs, VCDs and SVCDs -- InterVideo DVD Copy lets you copy your DVDs, VCDs and SVCDs without transcoding, meaning there's no loss of quality and your videos will remain picture perfect.

UniPass -- UniPass is InterVideo's patent-pending technology that can save hours of DVD-making time because it integrates DVD creation and editing together, so that multiple rendering passes are not needed and simple editing fixes do not take hours to re-render.

Direct Burn: From Source to Disc without the wait -- InterVideo's UniPass technology eliminates buffering video on the hard drive before burning onto the DVD or CD. With the Direct Burn feature, you can copy from your DVD-ROM drive directly to your CD or DVD burner without any waiting.

Copy DVD-Videos onto DivX® CD -- DivX® movies, with their high resolution and small file size, are becoming increasingly popular with movie fans. InterVideo DVD Copy supports the DivX® format so you can copy your DVD onto one CD!

Copy DVD-Videos onto your hard drive in MPEG-1/2 or DivX® -- To make it easier to access and edit your DVD content, InterVideo DVD Copy lets you replicate your DVD-Videos onto your hard drive in MPEG-1, MPEG-2 or DivX® format.

Copy DVD-Videos onto CDs -- If you don't own a DVD burner but still want back-up copies of your DVDs, InterVideo DVD Copy lets you copy a DVD onto multiple CDs in VideoCD (VCD), SuperVideoCD (SVCD) or DivX® format. You can play your discs on most set-top DVD players or your computer CD-ROM drive.

Burn hard drive DVD-Videos or disc images to CD or DVD -- If you already have video or disc image files on your hard drive, InterVideo DVD Copy lets you load them as a source drive and copy them onto a CD or DVD. Most of our competitors only support one VIDEO_TS folder loading, but with InterVideo DVD Copy you can load as many as you need -- just put them into one folder and burn.

Edit your DVD-Videos -- Want to make a DVD that only has your favorite chapters? Want to remove the subtitles? How about cutting out commercials? Maybe you just want specific audio or subtitle features? Whatever you want is no problem -- InterVideo DVD Copy lets you pick and choose the elements of your DVD to create a unique, customized DVD or CD.

Replicate Dual Layer DVDs onto two 4.7GB DVDs -- InterVideo DVD Copy can create backup copies of dual-layer DVD-Videos onto two blank DVDs without losing any of the content or video quality.

  2. look like a 40$ less alternative to DVDXCopy..

  3. Not only $40 less but more features. But the big question in my mind is stability since I have found their WinDVD app to be the most crash-prone DVD player in existance. The other interesting thing to find out is just exactly how good their "editing" capability is.

  5. Well, I gave it a try.

Ripped the movie only using DVD Shrink.
Set-up DVDCopy to "Copy as DVD", "Target: Output Type >> DVD" ("Required Space: 5601MB").

After almost 4 1/2 hours (!!!), I ended up with four .mpeg files (??).
    - billy_elliot_0.mpg : 3.96 GB (4,257,202,176 bytes)
    - billy_elliot_0.-vol-02.mpeg : 509 MB (534,224,896 bytes)
    - billy_elliot_1.mpg : 1.21 GB (1,303,058,432 bytes)
    - Movie_0.mpeg : 28.1 MB (29,544,448 bytes)

I then played them in WinDVD:

"billy_elliot_0.mpg" contains slightly more than 1 hour of the movie. The sound is out of sync by about 1/2 second. The picture quality seems to be identical to the original.
"billy_elliot_0.-vol-02.mpeg" contains the following 10 minutes. I guess these two files are supposed to fit on 1 DVD. The sound is out of sync by about 1/2 second. The picture quality seems to be identical to the original.
"billy_elliot_1.mpg" contains the rest of the movie. It is unwatchable!! The image and sound are jerky just like if you were to skip 1/2 second every second or so.
"Movie_0.mpeg" contains the first 3 minutes of the movie. (???) I couldn't hear if there was any out of sync dialogues as there aren't any in this part of the movie.

Even if these files were playing fine, what would a newbie like me be supposed to do with them? Burn them as they are on 2 DVDs?

I'll let the experts judge this software as I might be missing the know-how to use it properly.

P.S: the folder containing the ripped DVD is 5.40 GB (5,800,601,600 bytes).
The one containing the DVDCopy files is 5.70 GB (6,124,029,952 bytes)'

  6. I tried a disc. Got about 45% of the way through "step 2" (of 2) and froze. It did leave me with some rather large mpeg2 files (as mentioned by the poster above), but the audio was horribly out of sync, so newbie or not, its not worth the hassle.

Too bad, they do have the one feature that looked quite promising, which was the option of target format - ntsc/pal. If that would have worked the program would be worth $$$.

    As it is, crap.

  11. NYPlayer, do you really think Intervideo is not aware that people will use DVD Decrypter and the like to copy CSS-encrypted discs?

    I seriously doubt that.

do u know this time last year everybody how to go out and buy powerdvd to help watch rip files that we all made trying learn how to burn dvds
even though windvd usually came with their dvd roms or already installed on their computer

because windvd didn't support such things

power dvd did (actually they add support for us and could unlock our rippers)

now intervideo realize how much money they lost on their stance on pirating movies, they're jumping ship

  14. Just tried this using the first 5min of 'The Fast and The Furious' dvd. Ripped the movie only, using Decryptor.

Really not sure how useful this app will be; since it doesn't do any transcoding/reencoding in DVD mode, it's no good for trying to fit a movie onto 1 cd. Then again, they only advertise 1:1 copy.

I ran this in SVCD mode. It projected a file size of about 2.3gigs for the entire movie (I had turned file splitting off). Works out to about 3 disks or so.

Quality wise, the mpeg2 was pretty decent with no discernable blurring during action scenes. I didn't notice any artifacting, and the audio was in sync.

If Intervideo were to add the ability to create CVD's or half-d1's, this could be a fairly useful app for dvd dupes.

I haden't heard about the problems with Win DVD.
I've installed it on four computers w/o any problems.

Maybe all those codecs people fill their computers with somehow mess with it?

  16. I have tried DVDCopy from InterVideo and it did well with creating a DVD of the movie GhostShip. However it could not create a DIVX version of the same movie. This was not a problem because I just used the program DrDivx to create the Divx file for me. Has anyone also had this problem getting DVDCopy to create Divx files?

Over all I think the program still needs work but has good potential once they release upgrades to fix the bugs.

  17. I downloaded the trial version of Intervid DVDCopy, and was interested in this feature: "Most of our competitors only support one VIDEO_TS folder loading, but with InterVideo DVD Copy you can load as many as you need"
but I can't seem to get this to work. If anyone has any idea as to how this feature works, it would be much apprciated.

I posted about this software one month ago when I first got it. Everyone kept trying to confuse it with another program. I've been using it primarly to convert video to DivX. I then load these in my PVR Snap Stream library using 2 (250 Gig) hard drives. All my videos are available over the home network using this setup as well as music, music videos and live TV. Hell I can even go to the bathroom and watch a movie streaming over my network through a web like interface. The program has been solid as a rock and can convert a large project to DivX in about 1 hour using a P4 2.8 machine. With the new Power DVD player, which now supports DivX (and which Windows Media player steals the codec) makes for a sweet setup.

  25. Hello,

I am just trying to copy Ghostship with Intervideo DVDcopy Platinum, but it doesn't work for me, because it says that the DVD is protected. Please tell me how did you do that? Is there something I need to do first before using Intervideo DVDcopy?

Use AnyDVD ... it decodes the encryption on the fly

It works ... I tried it already

I aborted before it finished ... I just wanted to see if AnyDVD would work directly off the DVD with AnyDVD installed

  27. Hello,

I have one more question, if you don't mind.

Most copies that I have burned freeze before the end of movie. Especially the ones that last for almost two hours. Is it because I'm using pretty cheap blank DVDs or something is wrong with my Pioneer? It looks like something goes wrong when burning reaches the edge of a blank DVD.

I really dont know the answer.

    How cheap are the DVDs??

    What are they??

    Download the program ... DvdinfoPro

It will provide info of the type of media ... what brand it is.

Ritek dvds will say Ritek ... [Ritek are very decent]

Memorex will say CMI ??? [not that great a disk]

Dual Layer DVDs to Single DVD -- Compress a 9.4 GB dual layer DVD to 4.7GB with no loss of content or quality.
I really like statements like this - Then you can be sure it's not worth a penny. :P

  30. The manufacturer of my blank DVDs is Princo. I bought them for about a year ago and I think they cost $200 a 100-pack.
