Should I even spend the 25.00 for 25 dvd-r media...the price is tempting but I'd rather pay more for quality...but then again I had no problems with OPTIMUM brand which is supposed to be KHyper.

I have a Sony DRU-500AX, I have had no problems at all with K-Hypermedia discs. For an off-the-shelf deal, that's not bad.. but if you're going to mail-order them, I would suggest going to somewhere like www.meritline.com and ordering some bulk discs.

I won't buy 'em anymore. In fact, I managed to burn off the last of mine as test discs (my Panasonic DVD player won't play DVD-RW discs, sadly, and I hate to waste my Riteks). More often than not, they ended up as coasters when trying to burn 'em in my DVR-104; by contrast, I've never had a bad burn with Riteks.

I had some work good, but some following the burn wouldn't let me copy or even extract / recopy the vob's out due to bad sectors. I had even used BadCopyPro, no dice............

I wouldn't recommend them over any of the other cheapies............

  5. I have not had problems with the khypermedia discs I've gotten from officemax - burned with panasonic dmr-hs2 - played on apex703, apex 5131, koss 2163, samsung dvd/vcr combo. Did get a few bad riteks once - on ebay. I'd get them at that price if it's at a retail store, but mail order, you might be taking a chance.

I stopped using them for DVD backups. Always toward the end of the
movie it would look like the encoding was bad, but when burning the same
file to a better qualty blank the move was perfect. I now only use them for movies less than 4gig.

Yeah, I burned The Ring on it and near the end for maybe a second...i saw all those digital blocks go by..since then I vowed not to use them..but 25 for $25 was tempting me.
