  1. I've been doing a lot of captures lately using my AIW8500DV and my VCR. I use mainly virtual dub and the MJPEG codec. Virtual dub is great but it doesn't offer many features in the audio segment.

I need a recommendation for a program that can clean up the video/audio during capture or when I reencode the video to MPEG2. Does Primeire do this? Or is there a better program. Thanks.

if you're looking for a one-app solution, check out Vegas Video from Sonic Foundry.

A nice set of capabilities on the video and audio sides, multiple audio tracks and full NLE video, built in effects for both, and a pretty easy learning curve IMHO.

Audio only... Wavelab from Steinberg, Sonic Foundry's Sound Forge, Cool Edit from Syntrillium (just got bought by Adobe) are all good choices.

Freeware... Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net is a cross-platform audio editing prog with support for VST plugins.

Actually vdub is the best tool for cleaning video - check the filters section.
My personal favourite is temporal smoother.
AviSynth is also very good for this but it is for hackers only
