I've tried a whole lot of authoring programs lately in their 30 trial periods.

And I need someone's help about which of those authoring programs has that function, because I thought it was very interesting. But I just can Not remember Which program had that option.

I remember that it had a "slider" setting that was adjustable for the "Sensitivity" of the program to "determine" what constituted a scene change in the video.

Does anybody know Which DVD Authoring program(s) that's in?
And just how you activate it?(basically...how/where do I find it again, I mean)

    Thank You

I know that Pinnacle Studio 8 has a "scene detection" setting that allows automatic scene detection with scene changes.... but I don't remember it having a slider for the sensitivity.....

  4. Yep, sounds like DVDLab to me (and since it's the best authoring program anyway, you can't go wrong).

I use this function all the time -- it's under the Movie menu, "Auto-Chapters" and then you set your parameters there.

I haven't tried that one by Pinnacle and didn't even know about DVDLab, so it couldn't have been one of those.

    Anyone else know, please?

(thanks, though. I'll take a look at DVDLab)

  6. Maybe you were thinking about Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2?

    Here's a comparison chart:

    http://www.ulead.com/dmf/compare3.htm

Yes - Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 features the option to split video captures by scene detection.

Then these various scenes can then be designated as separate CHAPTERS.

The same feature exists in Ulead DVD WORKSHOP:

    Thanks Specialist,
It must have been MovieFactory2 then.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll have to look at it again.

    Thanks for answering, friend.

  8. PS8 certainly has scene detection to break them into different clips. When making menu, you have a choice to automatically place chapter points at the beginning of each clip, very easy to do.

    Hi

Pinnacle Studio 8 also creates your video and audio in elementary streams which can be imported in to DVDLab for authoring, no demux required.
I have tried Ulead and DVDLab and DVDLab gives you far more options.

DVD Workshop and DVDLab do no more than author DVD video but with DVDLab you are far more involved in the process, more flexibility and once you start digging there are far more options.
With Ulead everything is hidden behind a clunky interface. DVDLab has every part of your creation right there in front of you to change at will, instead of going back through a wizard.
At $79 it competes with other apps selling for far more.

  12. MAGIX video deLuxe 2,0 is an all-in-one video studio on PC.

Long films can be divided into different chapters and/or scenes automatically.

    Scene Recognition
Via the effect menu you can call up automatic scene recognition, an editor through which each video can be played and examined after changes in color or movement.
“Time stamps” from digital video devices, which are automatically created and mark the times at which the device were turned on or off*are subsequently marking the range as a scene.
At first, select “Start” in the “Scene change search” box. This starts a search of possible scene transitions. This can take time, especially for lengthy material, although the analysis of the material for each capturing need only be performed once. The results are saved together with the video material.

The scene transitions found are shown immediately during renewed execution of scene recognition when dealing with the same video material. If you are unhappy with your scene allocation, you can repeat and therefore correct them without spending too much time.
All scene transitions found in the list can be examined in the dialog. Each marked scene can be selected or deleted. Select one from the found scene transition list and examine whether it really concerns a scene change or not on the basis of the preview pictures. This is for example useful if photo flashlight has been filmed in a scene. At this point, a precipitous change in the brightness of the picture arises, even though it is a connected scene. The scene recognition preview always indicates the end and the beginning of the new scene with regards the previous scene. If the picture brightness does not differ, the scene was incorrectly recognized and “Delete selected scene marker” should be selected.

Via the Zoom+/- buttons you can increase the size of the place in the arranger at which the selected scene begins or where the previous one ends. Via the “Sensitivity” sliding control, you can adjust the level of scene recognition sensitivity.
With “Action with OK” you can specify whether the film is to be cut at the selected scene transition, and whether all scene transitions found should be saved as takes.
