  1. this is a problem i got now. ( Never had it before)

ANY AVI file i play in ANY Program ( Ex.: windvd, wmp, ect. ) the audio is delayed from the video. ( All my 30 + AVI's Are Like that) now, if i convert them to mpg the audio Sync. fix's it self but towards the end of all the video's that i convert ( Except a Few) all finish with the audio sounding like people talking under water. But the first bit of the movie the audio is in sync and fine.!?!?!?
And the other problem i had was the video was playing upside down, but after reinstalling DIVX codec the picture was now fine.

I've reinstalled many Codec's to try and fix the problem, but can't , what gets me is i can play any BIN/CUE movie MPG or WMV file ok without any problems only AVI are now giving my a problem, witch i never had that problem before.

If any of you have had this problem and know of a solution can you please write back and let me know!!!
    Thanx :P

Look to see if your AVI's are using a common codec (use GSPOT in the tools section to see what codecs are used). When the audio is out of sync, is this right from startup? Also, is this a new problem, or has this always been the case on your pc?

  3. new problem !!

i've used GSPOT and it says it all uses Mpeg layer 3 (MP3) and that i do have that CODEC installed.

and it is off from the start.

but some movies will convert normal without any UNDER WATER affect on the end .

but ive tried to convert THE HOT CHICK and out of the three times i've converted it, the first time the WATER affect start about 1H20M. into the movie , the second time it was bad from the start, the third time it was bad about half the way in, so it is not the video that has the error because it seems to change in defferent spot of the video and once it does the WATER affect it does not go back to normal.

So i dont know what else it can be!! Codec?hmmm.... i dont think so , I think a FORMAT of the PC will do it but i got so much on there...hmmm.....Im all out of things to try if you got some other suggestion please write back !!! Thanx

I wouldn't do anything that drastic. Just uninstall ALL of your MP3 codecs, and reinstall a single codec. Sometimes you can get conflicts if you install more than one. If your using Win2K, or WinXP, you can verify which are installed, and in use, in your Control Panel ( Sounds & Multimedia | Hardware Tab | Audio Codecs | Properties ). You can try disabling them, but I would go ahead and uninstall them completely, and then reinstall the one you wish to use.

  6. ok i originaly posted this on may 30th. and i still cannot get it to work all the time.

    ive:
deleted all CODECS on HD and in REG., used a dif version of tmpgenc. reinstalled only DIVX,DIRECT X and XVID. and still dont work all the time.

EX: is i got all the friends episodes season 1 - 9 and the other day i converted season 4 but episode 4 and 11 went all " UNDER WATER" affect on me, so i checked the AVI'S in Gspot to see if they are dif. in anyway.... Nope all the same but the other episodes worked ok. then i convert AMERICAN PIE 2 fine but then , THE HOT CHICK and BOAT TRIP both were no good???? all use the same codecs all converting throught same TMPGENC.

and the other thing that is odd ( i don't know if i meantioned already is) all of a sudden i cannot watch ANY ( i mean ANY) avi's on my pc ALL of them the AUDIO is off (EVERYONE) but when i convert it to MPEG ( even if it gives me the underwater affect ) the audio and video is now correct without me having to do anything for that!?!?

so i think the problem lies within the fact that i cannot watch AVI's ( i used, DIVX player, WMP, windvd none works, BUt they did about 3 months ago ) in any player, if i send a movie to a friend VIA downloading from me, it is fine at his house but not mine. ive always watched avi on my pc but just lately i've not been able to. I dont know what else to try, at this point i usually resort to formating and starting fresh but i got to much on the pc to do that at the moment, so im stuck!!

Can someone out the help me out!! Thanx

  9. if they did it before.

tip 1: uninstall all programs you installed after that time
tip 2: reinstall you whole machine again.

This is almost starting to sound like a hardware failure. Specifically your audio. Does it still work for apps, just failing to play for your avi's? You said that you could not hear audio for your avi, but when you converted that same avi to MPEG, the audio was fine?

You should also check your sound levels, via the control panel 'Sounds & Multimedia' audio tab. Specifically, the master volume, and the WAV volume.

Try reloading your DirectX and your audio drivers. Had a simular problem and reloading DirectX and audio drivers fixed it for me.

  12. its not that i could not hear any sound in AVI format it is that the sound was OFF but i could hear it? ( if i could not hear it how would i be able to tell you it was off!!! LOL ) anyways:

I've reinstalled DIRECTX and i hear the audio fine, so no need to adjust the volume levels or reinstall sound card drivers!!..

So none of that helps out, but thanx for trying!!

    anyone else have any ideas?

Sorry. When you said the sound was OFF, I assumed you meant you couldn't hear it.

Lets clarify. You mean the converted files sound like their underwater, or the source files do?
