I gave up on the Celeron and switched to AMD XP Athlons about a year ago, they were twice the speed of my Celerons. I came across a 1.3Ghz Celeron Tualatin at a flea market so cheap I bought it. I found a motherboard on ebay. I installed it in place of one of my XP1600's.
I was able to overclock the 1.3 Celeron Tualatin to 1.6Ghz,rock steady.
To my surprise the 1.6Celeron/Tualatin proved to be faster than the XP1600,by around 10-15%. Even 1.4Ghz the Tualatin was as fast as the XP1600. It wouls appear that DVD2ONE and DVD95COPY are more CPU intensize then BUS speed intensive. I don't know if this would hold true for programs like TMPEG or CCE,I suspect there more BUS speed sensitive.
It would seem the DVD compression programs Mhz/Ghz sensitive,so don't give up on your lowly Celeron.

  2. I would have to agree m8. I had an old 500MHz Celeron and DVD2One, for example, took 60-65 to rip 2+ hour flick - not bad considering the age of the CPU. Granted though, my P4 2.53GHz does it in 15 minutes. hehe

  3. Celeron are good chip's I have a p2 400 and a AMD 1.8XP I really think ever chip is better at some thing then other's. People say AMD is better for game's and that app's are better with intel. Celeron are almost a pentium have some extra stuff in them and they charge three times the price for them. I'm not really that picky when it come's to cpu's.

Are both your PC have the same RPM hard drive's?
