  1. Hi all

I have read that using DVD2DVD-R to backup a DVD that has been ripped by DVD Decrypter in file mode can result in problems with the subtitles.
If that is the case, does it apply to PAL DVDs, authored after demuxing by ifoEdit (most of what I read was about NTSC DVDs authored by Maestro, Scenarist or others)?

    Thanks in advance,

  2. Not receiving any answer, I simply decided to try it myself. :P
I have backed-up a PAL DVD from a DVD Decrypter "File mode" rip, and the subtitles are fine.
    PAL, R2 DVD ("We Were Soldiers") >> DVD Decrypter "File mode" >> DVD2DVD-R 1.47 >> CCE 2.5 >> ifoEdit0.95 >> NERO 5.5.10.20 >> No subtitles problem!!

So I guess this problem is mainly with NTSC DVDs.
I hope this will be of use to others who were wondering about it too.

  3. Even with NTSC movies, you can get the subtitiles to work ok with IFOEDIT. Unfortunately the movie will play 20% faster than it is supposed to. The problem comes in when we use Scenarist. Currently, the DVD2DVDR and Scenarist part has a bug in it that will not allow the use of subtitles. Not sure where it goes wrong technically, but for now no subtitiles. This being worked on and hopefully will be fixed soon.

With PAL / IFOEDIT you should be fine.
Experience without knowledge is just time.

  4. Thanks for your reply, JWhit.

It does look like ifoEdit and NTSCs don't mix.
Shame the development of ifoEdit has been stopped.

  5. don't use ifoedit for NTSC..only PAL..like you said subs work fine for PAL with IFOEDIT.
Gonna try to use ReAuthorist and if that can do movie only then I'm gonna give up on dvd2dvdr as I really want subs.
