I Don't think they "think" of what they are doing, I don't think they even care of the damage is done, I just wish that it will backfire at them some day...

When they are not carefull in hiding their identity and they send one to me, then they will become aware of the consequences of their actions!
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -

I think that the virus wasn't designed to look like sefys guide at all. I have been getting a few mails now that claim to be about certain things on this website and now that I look back the ppl who the mails are coming off could be ppl I helped in the past.
Basically I am thinking that this virus finds out what kind of mails the user sent to me and copys one of the subject headings.

I think e-mail addresses are being scoured from this site and put onto e-mail virus lists. I know of several users with similar complaints, all users of this forum, and it only started to happen after visiting this site.
It's probably somebody on here (dvdrhelp.com) that's doing it.I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored. -

This is not always the case however, as in a few cases, by the time the checker notices the virus it's too late. Another recent virus, attacked the virus checker itself right off the bat and disabled it. How do you get rid of the virus then?
New virus code is always being written and holes in security are continually probed, and exposed. (Especially if you are running a Winblows box) Fortunately, most of the people that try to attack you and I, or to send us viruses, are too ignorant to write their own code and must use commonly known exploits, or virions that are generally old news, and as such easily handled by your virus checker of choice. (F-prot, McAffee, Norton, Solo etc.)
Of course, there are exceptions, and that is what causes the grief. Somebody writes the original code though, (if you're a conspiracy nut, that would be those same fine folks that wrote your virus checker proggie) and if you are on their $hitli$t you are for it.
If you want to be safe(r) run Unix or Linux (hell, even a Mac), use a firewall (both physical and software if possible), run a virus checker at all times with download/email scanning on, NEVER use P2P crap, and do not open e-mail from anyone you don't know and trust. Of course, you can still "get got" if the sender is clever enough. No system is bulletproof, or 100% secure, and those that would have you believe otherwise are either ignorant, or trying to pull the wool over your eyes. If you go online you are at risk. The best you can do is limit your exposure.
My best advice is to back up important data regularly, on removable media.... DVD's, USB HD's, or zip drives and then do whatever you want to do. If you get hit you will recover easily. It's a simple thing, yet so few people do it. Don't be that guy that whines about losing all his precious data after being wiped out by a worm or some such thing. It's the little things.... a smile, a nod of incouragement, a punch in the head... that really make a difference to those around you.
