    @ vitamine..

    after re-reading your question 4+ times, YES.

    I understand your question, and it does make sense.

    Capturing in any app ie, vdub or avi_io etc., and choising NO type of
    compression IS about the highest form of quality you can get in your
    given capture.

    You don't really want to do rea-time MPEG capturing IF you are REALLY
    adimate about quality. MPEG, no matter how you slice'n dice it, is still
    compressing your capture source, but on the fly. And, as a result, something
    MUST give.

    Real-time capturing is good for those who are NOT strapped for quality,
    and/or low on budget and or are newbies and or need quick turn-around
    w/ their projects. Comprimises are made daily. What works (or used to)
    work today, may not, tomorrow.. from person to person. It all depneds
    on each individual.

    Quality..
    Other issues of quality might be the:
    * source quality (cable vs. satellite)
    * capture card
    * capture card chip-set
    * codecs used
    * onboard codec/hardware etc.
    * cables and wires used to connect these gizmos
    * capture settings ie, resoluiton, codecs, bitrate etc, etc.

    Hope that helped some.

    For straight conversions? You won't have those extra steps if you're able to capture straight to MPEG.
    I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.
