  1. hi all,
I actually like MS movie maker for adding titles etc. easy for a novice like me. I imported several MPEG 1 and made the movie. I now realize that I cannot use MM to make a VCD to play on my DVD player. I assume I have to have another encoder/ripper?

question: how do I make a VCD using the files that MM created? where are these files kept/called? I save the project, but don't see where I can use another encoder program to take the MM project and encode it and burn it to a VCD. Please explain thanks

movie maker saves its files with the extension .wmv so your final movie would be something like homemovie.wmv. This is not the same thing as the project file. you will have to search your hard drive for .wmv files if it is not in the c:\programfiles\moviemaker folder. you can easily turn these files into vcd by changing the extension to . asf instead of .wmv (homemovie.asf) and then open in tmpgenc and encode to mpeg1 and then burn with your favorite program.

  3. thanks, that helps. Do I have to "reencode" it back to MPG 1? can I use MPEG 2 ? also, if I capture it in MPEG 2 will it be better quality?

Does ULEAD movie maker have the same features as win MM? would I be able to use that without going through these extra steps? thx again
