  1. As you may have noted, tooLAME is back on track, and is on regular updates now, latest version is 0.2L

There seems to be two compiled versions out there, one that uses CYGWIN, and the other that uses ICL7.

The CYGWIN version gives "illegal mpeg stream" error under TMPG, the other version however works perfectly.

How to tell the difference? Simple, the CYGWIN has a CYGWIN.dll file in the pack.

Thanks for the info. I have the 0.2L version and a CYGWIN.dll file in the pack. However mine works well with TMPGenc.
Are you sure it is not something else who produces the error?
    ciao

  3. Yes I am, have a look at the following post:

Plus, this error only comes up during SVCD encoding, so if your doing VCD's, you wouldn't have seen it.

well, I've just finished an SVCD encoding with TMPGenc and TooLame.
    Everything went perfect.
I have a TMPGenc registered version 2.512.52.161, the newest.
Maybe the problem you mention happens with previous versions?
    Ciao

  5. Same here, latest plus version, avi to SVCD, with different audio sources and different films, audio demultiplexed, and not, pre encoded into mp3, freq/ change and not, all gave the error, but with the ICL7, alls well in the kingdom of Denmark.

The fact remains this error was reproducible, and conmen to more then one user, and is repeatable to all versions back to the old goody, well spread 0.2i that does not use the CYGWIN.dll.

I've used cygwin builds of the last couple releases of toolame with tmpgenc for both VCD and SVCD without any problems - the old non-cygwin build was the one that caused me trouble. I've used toolame both through tmgpenc and manually on the command line.

One thing that might cause problems running a cygwin build is if you have too many different versions of the cygwin DLL floating around on your hard drive. Some of the main tools for VCD authoring on Windows are actually cygwin builds, and Windows is well-known for acting braindead when two different versions of the same DLL get loaded at once.
