  1. I have recently added a NEC 1100 DVD + Burner to my system, Whilst it works fine burning movies and data discs and I have no complaints on that front. When I put the DVDR or DVD RW into my DVD ROM drive (Samsung) my pc hangs while it tries to read the discs (especially multi session data discs) Yet the movies play fine in my DVD Writer and Household DVD Player.
    Anyone any Idea's?
Do Samsung drives have compatability problems with DVDR/RW media?
Also the samsung drive shows up as a cd rom in 'My Computer' do I have to change some settings somewhere?

    Thanks.

Not all DVD-ROM drives can read DVDR or DVDRW media.

Don't know specifically about Samsung, but my Asus DVD-ROM won't read DVD-RW, but will read DVD+RW, whereas my Liteon seems to be more tolerant.

Have you checked this site or other forums for your drive model?
The glass is neither half-full, nor half-empty.
It is simply twice as big as it needs to be.
