I got the new divx 5.05 codec and installed it. Right after that TMPGEnc started crashing on me with everything. Couldn't figure out the prob so I backed up everything, reformatted and started new. Installed TMPGEnc and converted a DVD - not a problem. Then I installed divx 5.05 and guess what . .
TMPGEnc starts crashing again. So I remove the codec and TMPGEnc is fine now.
Is there a solution here? Something I can do to encode the newer avi's to vcd's?
btw, I have 2 computers and the exact same thing happened on both except on the other one I can't get the codec off and will have to reformat AGAIN I guess.
Is this a bug in TMPGEnc or divx? ALL comments are welcome -

one way may be to use Vdub and recompress using 4.12 codec. You will lose some quality but it may be bearable! Under the video header choose 4.12 set audio to direct stream and save the avi as xxx then use this in tmpg
good luck

Oh dear, I don't like the sound of this!
Have you tried frameserving through virtualdub?
Or perhaps tinkering with the VFAPI plugin priorities?
Let me know if you get it to work...
