Folks,
I think I messed something up.![]()
I'm not sure what I've done, but I XP can't find the drivers for my Liteon or my Pioneer A05!
I've tried opening the Device Manager and it says that both drives are THERE, but, "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
Can anybody help me...please...I hope I can fix this without reformatting the C: drive.

dont reformat...if you dont have drivers for every other piece of hardware in your system. it hurts more than it helps

Red,
Are you sure it's not a jumper problem? Did you just install these 2 devices? Are they jumpered properly as slave and master? They can't be the same as the other device on the channel. Did you go into the BIOS and do an "autodetect"? If this is insultingly basic, sorry, I don't know your level of expertise.
If nothing else works, try changing their properties in Device Manager to " Removeable Drive". Usually works, till you find out what you may have done wrong. -
Red,
As an add on, I do not recall drivers for my LiteOn, DVD OR CD burner. The only disk for the burner is the copy of Nero, for the DVD, PowerDVD, to play DVDs. The Pioneer, I can't help with on drivers, don't have a burner. (YET) -
gmatov...I've taken a look at the cables and they are seperate for each drive. I've had the drives running properly for 5 months with zero problems...then everything just took a dump.
My Liteon didn't come with drivers, but windows is asking for one...odd -
hazaa!!!! I used XP's system restore feature and it looks like everything has been brought back to normal.
Thanks everyone for your help
If it doesn't work...I'll be back! -
Red,
Happy for you.
Now all you gotta do is find out what caused it to take a dump. -
A curry the night before does it for me
