Hi There,
I have been using the Hauppauge DEC2000 freeview box to do DVD captures. Basically it is a normal set top box with a USB output to connect with the PC. You can use the capture program to make what I am told are DVD compliant captures.
Indeed I checked them in Virtual Dub and all seemed right. The video and audio settings looked fine. However I have been trying out TMPGEnc DVD Author program with a view to investing in a DVD Writer. It said that the files created by the DEC2000 were not compatible with MPEG 1 or 2. I'm sure this is incorrect but was a bit concerned. It seemed to have no such problem with a capture made from my Provideo PV-256 - a card that seems to specialise in non-standard captures.
I was therefore wondering if there is any program that will thoroughly analyse the file and let me know if it is compatible with the DVD standard.
