Hello. I was wondering if it was possible to get multiple menus on a dvd but wait! I don't mean like multiple menus in the starting but rather, between the video. Like TITLE MENU, MAIN VIDEO, SECONDARY MENU SECONDARY VIDEO, THIRD MENU, THIRD VIDEO. Let me try and explain it a little better. I was wondering if i could get the basic root menu, where you select the video, but then during the video, like at a certain time or between chapters I could get another menu, not the root menu but a different menu all together to automatically pop up. I made an example in Shockwave, remember the pictures are demonstrating videos, here is the link: http://members.lycos.nl/gameo003/test.swf
Is it possible to make something like that with a DVD program? instead of those pictures real videos. And if so, what program? If someone can help me out I'll be really happy. Thank YOu, if you don't understand exactly what I want please let me know and I'll try and make it more clear. My email is gthtjtkt@yahoo.com Thanks.

Absolutely. You can chop the movie up into different smaller pieces. You first menu is Menu0. You hit start to play the movie. Then set the menu system up so that after MoviePart1 ends, it'll jump back to Menu1 not Menu0. Then options on Menu1 will have access to MoviePart2. When MoviePart2 ends, it'll be setup to jump back to Menu3.
DVDit! PE has this kind of function I believe, but nothing I've ever spent much time on. I know that either Scenarist or Maestro does this, maybe even both of them. Again, not something I do, but I've seen it done.
You just need to read the books that came with the program. You DID buy the program, right?I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored. -
I use DVD Maestro to author and that's the only program that I'm really familar with. But this should not be a problem with any good authoring package. You can set the 'next/end action' for anything/anywhere in your DVD video.
I think the problem is that you are thinking of the DVD video as a continous stream from start to finish. This isn't the case. Your menus and title sets do not have to match (and fact many DVDs don't). All you have to do is set the next/end action to do what you want, and the DVD will 'skip' to that section of the disc.
As an example, I saw an 'interactive' DVD for learning Japanese at home that was ALL menus. They authored the disc so each lesson was a menu. The subpicture had "English - Japanese - Video - Text - subtitles - etc" as an overlay all the time. Pretty cool really. -
Yep. Further to the Maestro comment, you can even have the Menu action go to a different menu from the same video depending upon which chapter is playing when you hit it.
The same functionality should be in Scenarist, although I am not familiar with it. And I believe DVDlLab should allow for the navigation you are after. DVDWS I believe is too basic in functionality to provide what you are after - I think it only allows returning to the calling menu, or continuation to the next sequential video. The glass is neither half-full, nor half-empty.
It is simply twice as big as it needs to be. -
