  1. I have a p3 800, 512 mb ram, win 98se. I just installed the dru-510a and can burn mp3s onto cd r fine. But when I try create a dvd it seems to work fine until it gets to setting timestamp. Then it just sits there-- for hours.

I am using the Mydvd software that came with it. (used a different program to burn the mp-3s.) I am using memorex-r and -rw dvd's.

Thanks for any suggestions on what i'm doin wrong or what i can do to fix it.

edit: Not sure what other info about my system you need. I'll try to post it if you tell me. Thanks

  2. There are two things which I can think of which may solve your problem. The first thing is to make sure that your burner has the most recent firmware. If it doesn't, go to the Sony web site and download and follow all of the easy instructions. The second thing is to try another brand of DVDs. I have never cared much for memorex media and have had great sucess with my Sony DRU-500a DVD burner using Maxell, Sony, and Verbatum media. I prefer the "+" media, but thats up to you. Hope this helps. Good choice on the Sony burner!!!!!

  4. Ok I bought some Fujifilm (all I could find) dvd+r dvd+rw and I can burn my home movie onto them and play them on my dvd drive on computer.... I just can't play them on my dvd player( i think it only play's dvd-r but not sure) connected to my tv. I will get a different brand of dvd-r tomorrow and try that. Hopefully it is just the memorex dvd-r -rw that's screwing up when it gets to "setting timestamp".

I also defragmented my hard drive.. but since the memorex dvd's still won't burn I guess that was unnecessary.

I'll post again when I get a different brand of dvd-r and let ya know if they work.

  5. I finaly got around to getting some Sony -r dvd's and they work fine. No more timestamp problems.

I think the problem is the memorex -r/-rw dvd's. I won't buy them again...

Thanks for your guy's help and suggestions.

  6. I have the same problem, myDVD, DRU-510A, started with Memorex dvd-rw, then exchanged for a Sony DVD-RW.

    same problem : sending timestamp.

Made a call to Sony, they told me I should create the DVD structure with myDVD, then burn with Veritas recordnow.

Not very helpful. Anyone get an idea ?
