  1. This is probably a newbie question, but the last time I asked one they sadi to post in the Mac forum, so here goes...

I'm trying to convert from .mov to MPEG-2 so I can start authoring, and I paid for Quicktime Pro 6. However, that program doesn't seem to convert to MPEG-2. What gives? Am i missing a plug-in somewhere? Am I not using it correctly? Can someone recommend another utility if necessary?

    Thanks in advance...

You need to get DVD Studio Pro in order to get the Mpeg2 plug-in to work within of QuickTime Pro.

When installing the DVD Studio Pro it automatically installs the Mpeg2 plug-in.

Not totally true, you can purchase just the mpeg 2 export component from apple for something like 19 dollars.

OR you can just use ffmpegx (freeware) to do the conversion for you!

Hope that helps (especially since DVDStudio Pro is 999 dollars!!!!!!!!!!!)

  4. AFAIK the QT MPEG2 Playback Component is $19 but the MPEG2 export is more expensive.
