ASF -> MPG batch conversion

I have about 80+ ASF files that I need to convert to MPG files.
I don't care whether it's MPEG1 or MPEG2 because my DVD player will play MPG1/2 ISO files.

What is the best way and best software to convert all these files?

Is there any software that will do a batch conversion? ...something that I can setup and then let it run for many hours.

I did this with TMPGENC which you can download for free. Only probs I had was when the .asf file used MPEG-4 - these took over an hour to convert a 4min clip, and the resulting .mpg didn't have any sound ;o(

Not what you wanted, but have a look at ASFTools

It will convert ASF and WMV to AVI, and is very, very fast at doing the job, but won't convert to MPG, so you'll have to use another encoder to convert from AVI to MPG

I converted Creature Comforts (Wallace & Gromit) from ASF to AVI, and took seconds, for a 5 minute file, using AthlonXP 2000 on WinXP Pro, dunno if that makes any difference

Virtually any MPEG encoder will convert an AVI to VCD format ready to play in your DVD set-up
