  1. Hey all. I recently encoded a movie that was appx. 23.9k fps with TMPGENC into an MPEG. Before hand I used virtual Dub.
I was happy with the video and audio quality although one thing I notice is that every so often it skips or jitters as if there is a frame skip. I was wondering what I could do to reduce skipping.
Also, is there significant loss of quality if I do not use 2pass, because it takes almost twice as long as CBR.

I usually use Ghost reduction, noise reduction, and sharpen edge with 2pass. That took 12 hours on a 2 hour avi. Anything I could do to reduce time dramatically? Using CBR seems like the best time reducer. But i'm also looking to reduce skipping as I described earlier.

  2. although two pass is a lengthier process you can speed it up by not using the other filters. just choose two pass vbr and leave the rest alone it will take longer but it will look alot better

  3. I had a jitter in my mpg files as well. I found that when I frameserved with virtualdub the jitter went away. Give that a try.
