  1. Please focus on the questions asked and not the circumstances. I downloaded some movies in SVCD format. Many have a square like a tic tac toe board that flits around the screen like a butterfly. Why and What is that thing? *IF* it doesn't break the rules - can it be gotten rid of?

It is the Elecard MPEG2 Codec. Buy the full version to get rid of the watermark or get another mpeg2 codec or a software dvd player like windvd or powerdvd.

  4. Wow! You guys reply fast. Thank you. Now I know that nothing can be done, I just have to throw it out. I can't look at it too long or it really hurts my eyes. I can't figure out why anyone would upload that. And it was so many of them that had it. With no way to know ahead of getting all the parts and assembling them, I will just have to avoid that group. Thanks again!

No - read Baldricks response again:

It's the codec used on your computer that adds the watermark. It's not part of the encoded mpeg.
Remove the Elecard codec from your system.
    Install PowerDVD or WinDVD.

  6. Ah, I see. I thought he meant the encoding elecard card put that there. Never heard of buying a codec before. Thank you for clearing that up. I don't see it in my control panel. Is it called something else?
