would it be easier to convert divx/xvid avi files to MPEG1/2 ISO, plays MPEG1/MPEG2 files with no authoring. if there is such a way to do that??

cuz i got 18 movies in divx/xvid that i want to get off my comp and put it on cd so that my norcent dp-300 can play and i dont feel like encoding for 2-3 hours, so if there is a simpler way i would much appreciate it.

Even if you player support MPEG1/2 ISO, you must convert to MPEG1(VCD) or MPEG2(SVCD or DVD). The authoring does not take that much time.

If you don't want to convert you must either get a dvd player that support divx/xvid or play the video on your computer with tv-out/video-out.

  3. As far as I know you are stuck in whatever formats your DVD player is capable of ... which means most likely S/VCD or DVD.

If however you have a TV out on you computer you could just burn the DivX/Xvids to disc as data and then use your comp as a dvd player connected to your TV.

Or burn as data to cd and encode later if you dont feel like doing it now....

well i know about the tv out option, i dont have it, and i dont mind it being on my computer, im just saying i rather have it on a cd format that my dvd player can play without my comp, but it looks like the only way is to await the 2+ hours of encoding each movie... i was trying to find a divx/xvid dvd player but i couldnt find any around my area, so i just bought the dp300.

    thx anyways guys.
