help needed for newbie

hi ive just tried to copy dvd to vcd with dvd copy plus which uses smartripper and dvdx, all was fine and i burnt the vcd at 2x speed with nero. when i try to play the vcd in dvd player it is very stuttery in picture , what am i doing wrong?????

Try burning at 1x and see if that helps.

You might also check to see if the Nero did some autopadding of your file as well. I have found that I get stuttering pictures and sound when I burn a file that has been autopadded.
I use Tmpgenc, Multiplex, VCD standard to fix that problem.

If it's not a standard vcd then some old dvd players don't like them, i had to buy another dvd player because of that.

does your dvd player support vcd? Might help if you told us that you have confirmed your dvd player plays vcd. Did you make the VCD a standard vcd? Did you use the vcd template with nero. what version of nero do you have.
