if u copy just the vobs to the hard drive of both discs, rename the the second disc vob to correspond with the end of the first (i.e. if 1st disc has 4 vobs and the second disc has 4, rename the VTS_01_1, VTS_01_2, VTS_01_3, VTS_01_4 vobs of the second disc to VTS_01_5, VTS_01_6,VTS_01_7, VTS_01_8, etc.)

then u use ifoedit to create new ifo and bup files

Optional, click get vts_sectors and answer yes to all questions

then u can use instant copy or dvd shrink to shrink it to one disc

    galactica

in your case you are ready to burn
    So, i did this.... but.............
After reading all the vts_01.vob's under the CREATE IFO button, it gave me an error message along the lines of unexpected file size, and just stopped

looking into the video_ts folder, i see it made new VIDEO_TS.ifo/.bup and made VTS_01.ifo/.bup files

    but nothing for VTS_02.ifo/.bup

    any ideas?

The only thing i can think of was this was just a test, so i had two 4.4 gb disk copy movies on my desktop, so i just copy/paste the video files from one into a new VIDEO_TS folder I made, then i went into the 2nd disk copy, picked all the VTS_02.vob's and copy/paste into my new VIDEO_TS fodler.

    i get 4 01.vob's and 402.vob's

i fire up Virtual PC, (windows 2000) open IFO Edit, does exactly what you said, clcik CREATE IFO, asks for the 1st .vob in the series, select that, it starts reading all the .vob's with a percentage progress bar.
moves from 01_01.vob to 01_02.vob and so on. I just let it to, come back and get the error message (unexpected file size)

my video_ts folder is well over 4.4gb since i just pulled the movie files from 2 4.4 gb disk copy. you think thats the problem?

    Just wondering

open VIDEO_TS with my apple dvd player app, it plays great, well just the first movie, chapter 42 is the end of the 1st movie. there is no chapter 43. no 2nd movie shows.

    any ideas?

u are making the name of the second dvd as vts_02

rename the second disc vobs as vts_01_etc.

with etc. being the next corresponding vob after the last one on the first disc

example if the last vob of the first disk is vts_01_5

Then the first vob of the second disc is vts_01_6 ,
the second vob is vts_01_7, and so on

sweet! I dont see why it wont work now, because it had no problems with the VTS_01 files and they play fine!

ill try that and post back here.

Next part is to find a mac equal to this IFO Edit program, though it works Fine in Virtual PC and its decently fast.
    Thanks

Set the Startup Action of the disk to point at the menu file. It will be in the drop-down list of things on that Startup Action button if you've dragged it from the "asset list" into the graphical view main screen area. (I hope this makes sense.)

Results: Processing right now using IFO EDIT

so far so good, its jumped into the 2nd movie file (VTS_01_05.VOB) and is reading it with no problems

    Im assuming it will work.

    vance43211:
Question, on a PC, how long does it take for this IFO EDIT Process? I know its a bit slower cause im using an Emulator for Windows, and its moving along, but is this more or less a 5 min deal on a PC?

its been about 15 min so far and its only now just to 1/5 of the total .vob files.

    Thanks

Yea, emulators suck! but it does work and plays fine!

I wonder if there is a mac equivalent of this app. Its not very big, just a little over 1 meg.

Anyone up to the challenge of finding out exactly what IFOEdit (PC) does and perhaps make a IFOEdit (mac)?

I'd do it myself if i could!!!!!!!!! I have no idea how to even begin such a process.
