Hi All, I have a mpeg-1 file approx. 900mbs or more and i cut into 2 parts for vcds. I use Tmpg merge+cut for this. Say the file is 600mbs and i check the file with Avicode which says the file is 1152kbps. When i cut the file as Mpeg-1 Video-cd and burn with nero the finish file shows as 1188kbps. Also when i cut same file as Mpeg-1 System {automatic}, and burn as non-compliant which burns fine i ckeck with Avicode and the file now shows as being 1379kbps. both cds play fine on my dvd-player but i was wondering what kind of file did i just make? is it an xvcd or what? Any ideas anyone? Thanks for any ideas. Badbob

  3. If your MPEG is compliant (e.g., you used one of the VCD templates with TMPGEnc to encode it), then you should cut with the "MPEG-1 Video-CD" option.

The "Auto" option is WRONG as it assumes that you are making an MPEG systems file rather than the specific requires for a VCD.

As for the file, it is just an MPEG. VCD/SVCD/XVCD refer to the actual disc format.

If your MPEG file is standards compliant, then you've just made yourself a standard VCD.

If your MPEG file is non-compliant, then you may or may not have made an XVCD (abeit trivially so).

    Regards.
