  2. Need more info. If you source is ripped DVD then your framerate is either 29.97fps or 23.976fps (if you live in Europe 25fps).

I assume you encode the VOBs as MPEG1/2 files? What program do you use, what settings/template do you us, what makes you think you're encoded file is 17~18fps?

Maybe I missunderstand you, what do you mean by 'frame rate'?

  3. i use flask
    encoding pal movies
onto mpeg 1 for vcd , the reason i know what frames per second i m getting is because flask tell s you as it s encoding
but i am wondering what frame rate i should be getting

  4. Please define 'frame rate'? I'm not sure what you mean? Also what frame per sec are you getting (for PAL should be 25fps).

  5. I think the "frames per second while encoding" that you mentioned is the ENCODING frames per second. This is how fast the encoder is working for you

Your output in flask is limited to 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97 fps
so your output would have to be one of theses!!!

  6. surely the out put frames ( the rate at which it s encoding ) depends upon the processor ??
for example a 1 and a half hr movie generally takes me ,on average 2 hrs to encode
how long does it take you lot??
