    yes.

For MULTIPLE MPEG file clips ie: Batman1.mpg, Batman2.mpg.. .. ..
    ---------------------------------

1 - open main clip in TMPG
2 - set your cut scenes under filter section

3 - then, Ctrl+S (this will save as an "batch" file) save filename ie, xxx.1.tpr
4 - adjust to next section (or cut scenes) in the filte section again
.................. Repeat 3 and 4 for EACH clip you want to encode in your
    .................. batch project

5 then, Ctrl+S (this will save as an "batch" file) and save filename ie, xxx.2.tpr

6 when ready to batch-encode, Ctrl+B, and select your files note those w/ *.TPR
    ...extentions.

Now, if you follow the index numbers, you'll have no problem w/ finding
those files, and batch-encode them in their proper order.

    Code:
    Example:
      batman.1.tpr
      batman.2.tpr
      batman.3.tpr
      batman.4.tpr
    . . . . . Fig A . . . . .

To do your cut scenes into separate clips, it's Advance Tab/[x]Source range
When you press Ctrl+S, you are saving as a "Project" file ie, *.tpr, and by
saving them numberically, using index number (see above) then you will guarantee
a successful find of all files for a given project.

Don't click START (or Encode for older TMPG versions)
That's what the Ctrl+B is for. It rounds up all the *.tpr files, and
encodes each one, as a separate MPEG file. So, given the above Fig A,
you would now have Fig B:

    Code:
    Example:
      batman.1.mpg
      batman.2.mpg
      batman.3.mpg
      batman.4.mpg
    . . . . . Fig B . . . . .

    Good luck.

  2. Hold on there cowpoke! Im very confused by what you just said. Let me tell you my process of how I do one clip, and then you tell me again how to batch them up.

I load an uncompressed avi file in vd. I set a couple filters. I click File, start framserving. I open tmpg. I load the video.vdr.avi file into tmpg using the browse button. I add additional filters in tmpg, then I hit start. I'm not familiar with a .tpr file. Ok help me now THanks again!

    yes..

have a look at the above post.. I revised it.

Now, if you're actually asking how to set up a batch file to encode
MULTI number of .AVI files, and then finally encode them all into
ONE MPEG file, then you do the rounding up (cutting and joining)
your .AVI files in vdub, then frameserve into TMPG and encode
    into ONE big MPEG file.

  4. no no no, i dont need to do any cutting and pasting or joining of clips. I have all my individual clips that need converting, and all i want to do is run them one after another so I dont have to come downstairs every hour and load another one up.

  5. the problem is, do i have to have a seperate instance of vd open for each clip with the frameserver small window going? WHen I do one clip, the vd frameserving window is running while tmpg encodes. If I want to load another clip into vd, I have to stop it.

    Ok.. now I understand - I think

Are you saying you have mulitple DVD's that you want to encode,
and have them all ready for encoding ??

    Example A:
    1 - Batman.d2v
    2 - pinnochio.d2v
    3 - Simpatico.d2v

    ..or

    Example B:
    1 - Batman.avs
    2 - pinnochio.avs
    3 - Simpatico.avs

given the above.. and now you want to encode all these in Batch mode ??

I'm asking a bunch of question, cause I don't know what clips you are
talking about and their origion etc.

I'm still not sure what you mean by "clip"

I mostly use TMPG v2.53 and no higher, due to the DirectShow issue
change over. But, I think I remember that newer TMPG versions had
added support for Batch encodings.. though I may be wrong. Check
for these latest versions to be sure.

vdub has a Project mode, but I'm not sure it can be used as Batch.
The Project mode is mainly used for divX 2Pass encoding projects.

I wish I could help you more, but I'm bushed after sifting through
12 web pages (another site) of heavy reading and I'm plum-pooped !!

    But, good luck thus far.

  7. heheh not yet. Ok I have multiple uncompressed avis which I am going to encode to mpgs. Usually i load them right into tmpg and convert using the filters in tmpg. I load them one at a time, and I batch them by going CTRL-ALT-M, and then at the end I do CTRL-B and hit run (not START), and they all go one by one.

I was told to use VD's filters because they would provide better results. So I tried frameserving. I load an uncompressed avi into VD. I apply filters. Then I hit File, Start Frameserver. It selects the file which I just loaded into VD as default, and I hit ok. VD gets automatically minimized, and it lauches its frameserver mode window. Then I launch tmpg, and use the browse button to load in the video.vdr.avi file which the vd frameserving mode has just produced (this file provides the link over to tmpg). Its only 1kb. I apply more filters in tmpg if needed, and then hit start. It encodes. Now I want to be able to frameserve in a batch, but since this vd frameserve window needs to be open inorder for the first clip to encode in tmpg, I dont know how to load more clips into vd without aborting the frameserve window, which will then prevent the first clip from running.

  8. Clip = 1 file. I have several cartoons that I want to convert from avi to mpg. They are in uncompressed mode right now. If you read the very first message in this thread, it explains how I recorded them. THanks for the help!

    hi tomasine17,

I would recommend starting another topic:

"is their a way to framesere in batch mode?"

Note, the above is just an example. You could use your own "subject" for
    your topic

I would try that instead. You might get more viewers and a quicker solution to your problem as those peoples who HAVE seen this topic
are most likely bypassing it alltogether

And, besides.. the mods here really want to keep things in orderly on
these FORUMS, and recommned posters "stick to the script" hehe..

    K?

You can run more than one Virtualdub and Tmpgenc at a time. Let's say you have three clips that you want to encode.

Open up Virtualdub three times, set and adjust your filters, and frameserve.

You will now have three files ready to be served to Tmpgenc. At this point, you can either open Tmpgenc three times, or load up each file individually and set those to batch encode.
