pc keeps crashing when playing divx file directly from cdr

i downloaded a smr divx title from irc but cant view it direkly from the cdr as the pc keeps crashing round 1min into the file
even when playing the file direkly from the hdd, when pausing and playing again too many times, the pc would just crash
wat could be the problem ?
memory problems or codec problems

my system is something like this :

AMD 800
kingston pc-133 128 ram
20gig hdd
48x cdrom
round 300+megs in windows drive

SMR's should play fine. Probably some conflicts in drivers? hardware?
