I have some audio files which I want to clean up and enhance a bit. Can somebody recommend me a good full featured audio editor. It doesn't have to be freeware.

Cool Edit Pro is an excellent audio editor. I would recommend it fully.

Hello. -
I have been using cool edit for a few years now. I have ussed soundforge wavelab but not as good as cool edit. I have been using music software (cubase protools cakewalk) longer than video encoding apps....and cool edit can be used by a begginer right up to advanced yse
Buy cool edit today and recieve your free steak knives that are so tough you can cut thru a leather shoe......jokes i don't work for them.......or do i.....How long could we maintain? I wondered. How long until one of us starts raving and jabbering at this boy? What will he think then?
If you like Tekno download one of my tracks

I would also recommend Cool Edit. It has done everything I've asked of it and more.

It's a little finicky, but I would also suggest ProTools.
Digidesign has a FREE version, called something as unlikely as "ProTools Free". It works w/ most std soundcards and runs on W98/ME (sorry, not NT/2k/XP). Quirk is that it supports stereo as pairs of mono files (***.wav.L, ***.wav.R), but that doesn't hinder things too much. It's interface is very close to the full PT, which I consider to be the best, most intuitive editing interface out there.
Site to go to is http://www.digidesign.com/ptfree/.

yo, can any of the aforementioned tools take out the accapellla and instrumental of a song, holla back
"If u cant eat it - u dont need it"
"Baby - If i dont hit it, Who will?"
"Why is Abbreviation such a long word"? -
depends on the song and how it's mixed.
every product I've ever seen that "removes backing tracks" or "removes vocals" is just doing a stereo phase-inversion trick to cancel out some of the signal. It's rarely perfect and it's never easy.
But any of the software mentioned above can do that process, it's pretty basic.- housepig
