PAL to NTSC Film Audio Conversion Impossible!!

I have tried everything to get this audio from an svcd converted down to 23.97 for NTSC film from PAL. BeSweet, TMPG, CCE, VirtualDub, everything!! Not a single one can do it well...there is always popping all through the converted audio!!! How can I remove this annoying occurance!?>

I think it's only the video part thats different.
You don't need to change the audio.
I usually just put an NTSC film into the PAL template on TMPGenc to change it. Normally works fine. Don't see why it shouldn't work the other way around.

Totally agree with fozzee. Have done conversions both ways with tmpgenc and never had to change the audio, just use the templates they work just fine for me, I even use them for divx conversions.

It must be this particular mpeg then because I have tried using just the templates and have had the same popping results. ..... However I think I may have solved my problem by using the Beta version of BeSweet.

In a proper PAL to ntscfilm conversion yes you must absolutely slow down the audio too otherwise you will get desync everytime. PAL runs approximately 4% faster than NTSC, you cannot just ignore that.

hotwings and Fozzee: The reason you are not getting desync is because you are not processing your video correctly. TMPGenc has a built in feature to protect against desync at the expense of smooth playback. If you do no notice the slight freezing effect every second, than this method is fine. ViperJPB: I was going to suggest decompressing your audio to wav before encoding it to another format. This is always a good idea.

Well personally I usually only go from NTSC to PAL as I have no need for NTSC.
I don't have any playback issues usually.

It makes no difference. Instead of losing a random frame every second you will be gaining a random frame every second, and the same freezing effect will be present. Its definitely there, whether or not you see it is another matter. Still, a proper conversion from film or ntscfilm to PAL, or vice versa is extremely easy to do correctly, and it really doesn't require much more work. Since I can clearly notice the freezing effect on improper regional conversions, I personally think its worth the extra effort to do it correctly.

BeSweet (using the BeSweet GUI) will convert audio from 25fps to 23.976fps but you need to use the latest BETA versions of both BeSweet and the BwSweet GUI as the feature is NOT correctly working in the stable versions that are current.

Then you will get no more pop snapple cracks.

I have gotten BeSweet to work this way going from AC-3 to AC-3 as well as AC-3 to WAV but it won't seem to do AC-3 to MP2 (at least not while trying to do the frame rate change).

I'm not saying your wrong. All I'm saying is I don't notice the "freezing" you say occuring. I can watch the movies fine.
