I was wondering what is the best codec to use for DVD2SVCD? I'm currently using CCE 2.5 and there aren't many glitches but I would especially be interested in anything that can increase quality further.

I also notice that the standard setting is for 4-pass VBR, Imagine Qual. Priority is 17, Bias 20, and since it's a DVD the Anti-noise filter option isn't turned on.

To increase the quality should I increase to more passes in VBR, increase the Image Qual. Priority?

  2. Got to http://www.doom9.org and read their CCE faqs. Short verison:

    1) Most people do not feel that there's any major quaility differences between the verisons.

    2) 4pass is overkill most do 2 or 3 (I do 3).

    3) You would lower the Qual. Priority (IIRC one faq on doom9 recommend 5 for high motion video) to produce better quaility encodes.

If you read the CCE faqs it all kinds of makes sense. CCE is an excellent program but not 'all that user/newbie friendly' But once you get use to it it's really nice.
