Any suggestions as to how/why you can stop the Pioneer A05 burner from insisting on ripping at the super slow speed of x2.0, maybe stretching to a maximum of x2.4
DMA is on, drivers are latest for IDE, burner is on its own cable
So, whats going on here, its the latest firmware as well

Hacked firmware it truly AT YOUR OWN RISK. It has killed my 103 drive for the most part. No more CD, DVD-RW, or read support. Just burns 1x and maybe 2x if in a good mood.
Buy yourself a good 16x DVD-ROM. The 2x limitation is there for a reason. My guess (and that of a software/hardware engineer friend) is that the slow speed is to protect the drive. Maybe this thing has a defect we're not yet aware of?I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored. -
I've had the hacked firmware on my a05 for acouple months and it has worked like a fine tuned machine! i've hit speeds of 12X off dvds before and burning 2X on 1X media has never caused me a bad disk yet and ive burnt about 200 dvd-r so far but it is a USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! just cause it worked for me doesnt mean it wont fry yours but who knows.
